Full-Day Itinerary: Cotopaxi Volcano Adventure
7:30 AM – Departure from Quito
Meet your guide and begin the scenic drive south along the Avenue of the Volcanoes, entering Cotopaxi National Park with its vast landscapes and roaming wild horses.
9:00 AM – Limpiopungo Lagoon Visit
Stop at the Limpiopungo Lagoon, a high-altitude lake surrounded by dramatic peaks. Enjoy a short walk and admire the rich biodiversity of the páramo ecosystem.
10:00 AM – Ascent to the First Refuge
Travel by vehicle to the parking area at 4,500 meters, then begin the hike up to the José Rivas Refuge at 4,864 meters. Experience the thrill of walking on the slopes of one of the world’s highest active volcanoes.
11:00 AM – Box Lunch at the Refuge
